Arogya Nilayam is a free medical clinic run by Gandhi Nagar Arogya Nilayam Charitable Trust with the sole aim of building healthy communities by providing quality primary medical care to low-income and underprivileged communities in Chennai and the neighbouring districts like Villupuram, Chengalpattu etc.
A Free clinic, because we believe every individual must have access to primary health care, irrespective of his/her economic status. We believe in a whole-of-society approach to health that aims at ensuring the highest possible level of health and well-being by focusing on people’s needs, from an early age, along with the continuum from health promotion and disease prevention to treatment & rehabilitation. As we believe prevention is better than cure.
Weak primary healthcare is 7th on the list of top 10 threats to global health published by the World Health Organization in 2019. WHO believes that strong primary healthcare which can meet the majority of a person’s health needs throughout their life is needed to build strong communities.
